The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology provides quality graduate education in cell and molecular biology as well as undergraduate instruction in genetics as a service to the University of Hawaii at large. Our faculty participate extensively in the education and training of graduate students, medical students, postdoctoral fellows and undergraduate students. In addition, local high school students also participate in research projects under the guidance of Department faculty and staff.

We conduct research in the following areas: molecular biology and molecular medicine, cell biology and cell signaling pathways, neuroscience, cardiovascular biology, developmental biology, cancer biology, immunology, endocrinology, and other biological and biomedical science disciplines.
